"Step and Fetch It" for the White Millionaires
Anonymous (not verified) 2007-10-17 19:41
Oh, my God, this is so hilarious! Can they make a video, too, and have a black face song and dance man for the Vote NO Campaign? Here is a list, Michael, as to what is wrong with this. Unless, of course, Dallas Progress has been bought off by the white man. 1. The history of Dallas is full of local African Americans who try to lead other blacks into voting for what the white millionaires in Highland Park want. NOTHING has changed. NOTHING. 2.The Tollway was NOT what was sold to us. The Tollway will make the Crows and a couple of other non-Dallasistes richer when their property values increase.(Harlan lives in the Big House on Preston Rd and Armstrong.) 3. Could they have at least put a verb in the sentence as they rapped? 4. If this isn't racially divisive, then I want to hear the "White" version, a country and western song. I want to hear a Latin version en Espanol with an accordion. 5. And how exactly will a tollway "ease up on taxes" for an area of Dallas where most people live in SUBSIDIZED HOUSING??? 6. WHO is the rapper? Who paid for it? 7. Don't call them what Imus did, you don't have to. They do it to themselves. Jump and dance to make the white man happy. And don't "forgets to smile!" [Ed Note: Just for the record, Mike Davis is a leader of positive change in South Dallas as well as North Dallas. He's young, professional, committed and has exceptionally high ethical standards. He works long hours and, in case you don't read his blog on a regular basis (http://dallasprogress.blogspot.com) you should. He is a needed voice for change that all of us should be proud to have. It is common for those of us who have blogs to occasionally have a different perspective on issues--which is why it is important to read all sides of an argument. But Mikey is a wonderful and welcome voice, and one day he may end up being mayor. He'll have my support when he decides to do it. I also want to say I don't have a problem with anyone who votes "no" on this issue. I realize there are some people who are very committed to having some alternative to 35E headed out of downtown, and feel they need this tollroad at any cost. There are legitimate reasons to vote "no." I just hope everyone casts votes for the right reason--and not because the song had a nice beat!] Reply |
