Who is Ms. Jackson?
Cheryl Jackson (not verified) 2008-05-08 21:47
I am Mrs. Jackson. I will be happy to answer your questions. I was not and am not a contestant on Oprah's Big Give. I have met and interviewed Oprah several times and have even played Oprah on her television show. But this sounds like Jerry Springer stuff to me. :) How did I get involved with Spence? I was invited to speak to a class at Spence about non-profit work , overcoming obstacles, and using your life to make a difference. In my speech it was said that the school had never had a musical, since this is the end of the year and a fund raiser could not be done, I campaigned to raise the money and I presented a check for $2350.00 to the school. I am a concerned citizen just like you. Why am I talking to faculty and staff about personnel matters and school morale? What are you referring to? When I spoke to the faculty, I discussed teamwork. If you are a teacher at Spence you know what I said. The meeting lasted about 40 minutes and my portion was about 15 minutes, the rest of the comments/feedback were from the teachers. I thought it was positive. In my line of work this happens all the time. A few months ago I spoke at the Zig Ziglar corporation about the same subject teamwork and never have I had such negative feedback. The reason I have been talking to the school is because I care, but I have been told that this is deeper than what I know and obviously it is. I have never been involved in anything like this before. Did I also speak to students about how to "fix" their school. Why? I spoke to the students and asked them what they would like to see different in there school and I have asked contractors to come in and remodel the bathrooms etc. for the school and to plant flowers for FREE because I want to be a part of helping this school and faculty succeed. It's a great school. I hope this answers your questions. Unfortunately, I operate a non-profit and a food pantry so I can't stay on this blog to see if you respond. Have a nice day. [Ed Note: Thanks for the clarifications. I hope it allays some people's concerns. This is how rumors get started (and how we put them to bed!).] Reply |
