About This

First off, I'd like to say this site is just intended to poke some good clean fun at the Convention Center Hotel project!

Mayor Tom Leppert, in our book, is probably one of the best mayors Dallas has ever had.  He's a dedicated servant of the people, a savvy businessman, and may well be one of the reasons North Texas has been as unscathed as it has in light of the economic downturn.

Dallas is fortunate, at this point in its history, to have some of the best senior leadership it has ever had: City Manager Mary Suhm, Chief David Kunkle--to name a couple.  These folks are dedicated to making life a little better for the rest of us.

Still, a big public project just begs for something like this, doesn't it?  Talk about leaving the door wide open!

The only serious question I have with it is: what happens if the unthinkable happens and the project falls into hard times?  We're on the hook (taxpayers) for some pretty serious dough--especially in today's economy.

On the other hand, sometimes you have to take a risk to get a reward.

Does that mean that it's the right project but the wrong time, or does it mean it's the right time to do a big, potentially risky, project?
