American Inn Hot-Sheet Motel is being Closed
We are closing the door on the American Inn Motel, one of the most notorious hot-sheet motels in the city of Dallas.
The American Inn at 4538 Scyene (near Hatcher) will be closed down by the City Attorney's office this week. An injunction was filed by the City Attorney's office and approved by a Judge. The motel will be closed in the next few days!
Until they pay all of their taxes and provide all financial information, the motel will remain closed. If they dare to operate after the injunction is served, they will be in contempt of court and handled accordingly by the appropriate police force. If and when they do comply, we can move forward to set a date for the motel to be permanently closed via the Board of Adjustments.
This is an important milestone in the Southern Sector. As far as we know, no other motel has been shut down in South Dallas in the last 15 years. These bums felt that they could thumb their noses at the City and the community, but they will feel the only pain that they understand – in their wallets!
This motel has never been legitimate, as they do not have the permits to operate. They are a nuisance property as illustrated by the crime reports, which show that the owner has facilitated prostitution at the motel. They haven't had the decency to show up at any of the city's hearings. Now they have to show up, or they'll never be open again. They tried to ignore the community. Do they hear us now?
We are in the process of targeting the next motel in the Southern Sector. The HST and Southern Sector Co-Council are in the building. We cannot and will not be stopped by anyone who attempts to allow hot-sheet motels to stay open.
