Jerome Garza's Shocking Behavior Caught on Tape
Allen Gwinn 2007-01-01 18:03 DISD (Schools)
Carla Ranger was visibly concerned that another trustee would surreptitiously alter her district's boundaries--then try to conceal the act. After almost an hour, Jerome Garza finally admitted it was him. One of our New Year's resolutions is to put more video on Dallas.Org. We're wondering whether one of the School Board's will be to stop having themselves videotaped! The following video requires Windows Media Player 9 Attorneys, etc.

The silence of the other board members, not coming to Carla's side in favor of open, honest government, are just as guilty as the consulting attorney (Rios) who said the information Carla asked for was "confidential." I hope this coverage continues. Thanks to Dallas.org who are not asleep on the job. Mainstream media, please take note! Garza

Thank you for the video. The district has become more secretive lately so we appreciate you providing us this information. Prior to the last few months we were able to view board meetings and briefings on cable but that has been taken away for some reason. [Ed Note: I think that some of the board members ended up getting embarrassed at their actions, post facto. We'll continue to provide live video clips of uncalled-for antics as long as DISD continues to tape the meetings. When they stop we'll, naturally, tell you why and who was behind it!] Garza's tactics aren't new

I am not surprised that Garza tried to pull a fast one on Granger. His complete and utter disdain for the spirit of teamwork on a board, his complete arrogance for thinking it is his FIEFDOM to get schools of people he knew into his area, and for Garza to think that nobody would notice is unbelievable! But it isn't new. He treats everyone like they are beneath him. And he is not alone on the board that way. Flores is even worse. They never stay behind after meetings of the board to meet with the citizens, the taxpayers, the teachers. No, they run away like little rabbits. And Rios? Would someone who is a lawyer out there find out what is considered "confidential" when discussing a PUBLIC policy, like redrawing a voting boundary? Please help us!! It feels like the lawyers are like Nixon's: on our dime, but protecting the scuzzy. Come on lawyers! Come on Dallas Bar Assn! Look into this! Doesn't his "confidential" defense smack you in the face with the idea of violating Open Meetings Act or something? [Ed Note: "Help is on the way" :) ] DISD

And I thought there were scumbags in Lancaster, This guy makes me feel dirty to watch. I would be honored? Someone should have shut his scheme down right then! Didn't we learn???

So Garza was trying to split schools with Hispanic names for himself? Have we not learned that dividing schools by race and letting one race run that school is bad? Last time that happened was a district called Wilmer Hutchins. Don't they have anything better to do with their time? Like... 1) ...finishing building Booker T. Washington High School; or has DISD (and the City) forgot that it's a historical landmark. 2) ...was it really worth kicking the Dallas Police out of the schools? I guess that Carter Kimball basketball fight that made National news wasn't bad enough. 3) ...explaining to the parents of Kimball how their school could get broken into and gang graffiti sprayed on the second floor of the building (the front of the building mind you). Yet video cameras are everywhere. Yes if you look close enough you can still see it over the library. 4) ...convincing people that RACE does not play in hiring. A black woman wanted to be an assistant principal at a certain school. However when she learned that the currents ones are black, she refused to apply. She assumed that the job would be given to a Hispanic. How many more people are we going to lose because of this? |
