P-Cards: The Fish & Richardson Bills
Allen Gwinn 2007-04-20 14:53 DISD (Schools)
Shortly after the Dallas Morning News broke the procurement card scandal, DISD hired the law firm of Fish & Richardson to conduct the investigation (led by former US Attorney Paul Coggins, and former Dallas City Attorney Madeleine Johnson). Initially, $500,000 was approved. Last Winter, the figure was upped to $1 Million dollars. Dallas.Org obtained copies of the bills from Fish & Richardson in connection with the DISD Procurement Card scandal. As of the middle of March, $851,198.88 had been spent. According to F&R Attorney Kip Mendrygal's deposition , the investigation has been limited to about 200 people out of the 1,200 to 1,700 who had District procurement cards. We are in the process of breaking down the time spent by employee and will publish the figures once we have them. Viewing the bills requires a PDF reader such as the free Adobe Acrobat Reader.
Money well spent

A million dollars to investigate a multi-million problem seems like a bargain to me. In my opinion, Fish & Richardson is giving the DISD a Neiman Marcus shopping trip on a Wal-Mart budget! [Ed Note: Just wait. More is on the way!] |
