DART - Scheduled Departures into the Void
RecentCoin 2007-08-15 12:11 DART
[Ed Note: Very funny situation...] Now keep in mind, as you're looking at the photos below, that for the Red Line, Parker Road is as far North as the line goes and Westmoreland is far south as it goes. There are no stops that are further North than Parker Road in Plano and no stops further South than Westmoreland in Dallas--yet Dart's schedules show North departures from Parker Road and Southerly departures from Westmoreland! For the Blue line, it goes as far north as Downtown Garland and as far south as Ledbetter. I'm really curious as to where these departures all go.
Here's the cover of the published schedule. It's the most current one.
Note the northbound departure times listed for Parker Road.
Note the southbound departure times listed for Westmoreland. Now that covers the Red Line. Let's take a look at the Blue Line.
Yep, they've done it here too. Phantom trains are leaving the most northern stop on the line going north.
And it's here too. South bound departures are listed for the southern most stop on the line. Just another example of DART inefficiency. [Ed Note: But this one is actually quite amusing! I suppose they could counter that these were "arrival" times except for the fact that they have a first departure time (before 5AM) to begin with--in other words: no train is traveling there from the opposite direction to actually "arrive" there. Ahh, the "dull knives" they keep in their drawers!] |
