Cozy Relationship Exposed Between City Staff and "Vote No" Crowd

Allen Gwinn  2007-09-29 07:15

Dave Levinthal and crew exposes the cozy relationship, that city officials have with Craig Holcomb and the ShutUpDallas.com (Save the Trinity) crowd.

Mary Suhm issued a warning to city staff to "behave."

City Hall --Indictments --Tollway Over The River
Anonymous (not verified)  2007-10-03 15:25

Citizens are beginning to receive "bad vibes" while watching the "Tollway Over The River" debates while listening to all the political indictments coming from the U.S. Attorney's Office.

Others indicted from in and out of City Hall float about Dallas causing voters to wonder just who is going to be benefiting most from all the construction, design, real estate deals, and on / on (while watching campaign funding sources in favor of the deceptive project).

As I remember, Craig Holcomb who supports the Bridge In The River has a defunct group known as Trinity Fest that still owes Dallas $80,000 (under city lawsuit).

It now comes to light that NTTA video and artist conceptions of the project are loaded with disclaimers (in very fine print).

Dallas should be very worried about what is REALLY going to be provided for the millions included in this project --- AND, how about all the "millions" that were left out of the budgets?

Perhaps $50,000,000?

When does the taxpayer learn all about those costs (for lakes, roads, water, pumps, trees, grass, maintenance, etc.)?

How many ways can advocates
bushwacker1951  2007-10-02 06:01

How many ways can advocates for the Trinity River toll road referendum shoot themselves in the foot before the November 6th election date?

This Dallas Morning News (DMN) story made front page news a day after a DMN front page story on imminent FBI indictments related to City Hall corruption.

I thought "Dumb" in DISD's administration did not have a companion, but "Dumber" exists at Dallas City Hall!

This kind of information gradually sinks into the mindset of Dallas' voters.

With just over a month before the election, looks like the Trinity River toll road proponents just gave (DMN front page coverage) toll road opponents the equivalent of a free citywide campaign mail-out that gives Dallas' voters even more reason to vote against the toll road.

[Ed Note: Keep in mind that Dallas city staffers want to keep their jobs. With the Mayor and Council supporting defeat, staffers who don't march in lock-step (at all ranks) face retribution. It's a tough position.]

Shocking! Politics at City Hall?
Anonymous (not verified)  2007-09-30 20:57

I always love a DMN Story that seems shocked that City employees are political. Well, duh. The City Council wants it. The city manager says it can be done. They have an election item on it... Then they want to change it. They get caught. So, hmmm, they would just sit and wait? Come on.

What is sad is to see the acrimony for Angela Hunt by people in City Hall. They sound more like 8th graders on a playground than educated elected officials. City Council members who support the TOLL ROAD just cannot shut up about it. Heck, their families are talking about what they say. Hey, fellas, we know what you say! We see you at meetings! You may win the TOLL ROAD, but you look like immature, inexperienced bought off politicians. And that is disappointing, because in Dallas, our paid for politicians should be mature...

And when you represent a Democratic presidential candidate, same goes for you, ex-mayors. We are listening to how you insult Hunt. Be careful. If her side wins, you will look dumber than we already thought you were.

Trinity River

I thought the city council was to remain neutral on the Trinity River issue. I received an email forwarded from a friend from Tom Leppert and the rally he is holding.

[Ed Note: No, they don't have to remain neutral. They can't use their official titles. Send us the email and we'll post it.]
