New-er Meaning For DART

RecentCoin  2007-10-31 21:37

If you're familiar with the previous blog entry, we've developed a new meaning for DART. However, it was pointed out to me, in light of recent events, that it wasn't entirely accurate. I thought I'd update it.

D is for Derelict because its hard to wait for the train with out getting hit up by the panhandlers who want your train ticket, want some cash, or want cigarettes.

A is for Anarchist because finding a bomb, even a fake one, on your bus blows. While the pun is mildly amusing, bombs and bomb threats aren't.

R is for Robber because of the man who has been snatching things from people and leaping off the train.

T is still for train.

It's pretty funny how fast all of these people seem to fade into the woodwork in the presence of an armed officer.

And guess what, Carrollton...they're still coming to a train stop in your neighborhood very very soon.

Substantiate These

Now what I'd like to see are pictures, police reports, etc. substantiating all of this (For instance: I'm interested in the snatch and jump robberies and how widespread this is)! It would have much more of an impact. In DART's defense, I think this is the first incident involving a bomb threat in the history of their organization. In this day and time, these sorts of things can happen to anyone. It was only a matter of time.

Why R is for Robber

Crime Does Occur at DART
Anonymous (not verified)  2007-11-01 15:40

Just for the record, nobody is making the statement that crime does not occur on DART.

It is just a reality that crime occurs everywhere. Granted, DART is the current topic, but if you look into each large agency with a police department you could say the same thing.

Universities have police departments and crimes occur on their campuses.

Hospitals and airports have police departments and they still have crimes. I do agree that the obvious sign of police should deter crime, but today's criminals dont necessarily care that the police are right there.

The fact that crime is everywhere does not make it okay that it occurs at these places, but it is a fact of life.

No, this isn't the first

No, this isn't the first bomb related incident by any means. They had the entire train system shut down 2 years ago because there was a "suspicious" item on the rail tracks. They shut down everything, called in the bomb squad, and detonated some rail workers lost radio.
