This is the last meeting of 2007 so Happy Holidays!!!
It is 5:41 and we're getting the Superintendent's report. There are overtones of change with hints that we're probably going to get a bond proposal on the table soon. My guess: January. We'll talk about that later.
5:44 - Ron Price is up with the business briefing. Ron's leaving early to be Santa Claus at one of the district elementary schools.
5:46 - Edwin Flores updating on the audit report. Quick...
5:47 - Leigh Ann Ellis with the policy update. "As of this date, we've looked at approximately 70 policies," noted Ellis. This is an impressive amount of work for an elected official and staff.
5:50 - Awards presentations.
5:51 - On to the agenda items. There are no speakers.
As of this evening, every board member has fulfilled his and her training requirements!
Consent agenda passed.
5:53 - Speakers to non-agenda items.
David McDuffy - Former employee in the instrument repair shop. He is complaining that he was dismissed from his former job, only to have it reposted. "Why terminate a qualified employee just to have the same job reposted a month later?"
Amy Bolender - A whole bunch of teachers stood up. Concerns over Franklin D Roosevelt. The following are the concerns: violations of the code of ethics, violations of state and federal law, retaliation, etc. Claims are being made that teachers are being directed to shape grades. "The principal has disregarded [...] 'no child left behind'," according to Bolender. We're going to ask Amy to blog more about this.
Concludes the speakers. About a dozen were called, none showed.
