Portions of Brokaw Lawsuit Dismissed But Core Remains

BREAKING: A judge, this morning, dismissed a large portion of a lawsuit brought against the District by former employee Sheri Brokaw--including claims against Superintendent Michael Hinojosa.

The judge, however, left intact Brokaw's core claims against former District spokesman Celso Martinez. The lawsuit is expected to proceed to trial this Fall.

Brokaw was dismissed from her job and blamed, by the District, for the 2006 procurement card scandal. She was publicly called "incompetent" by Martinez.

Records show that senior District officials ignored several warnings that the procurement card use was getting out of hand. But Brokaw still got the blame.
