Retired and Rehired with same salary

Shouldn't those rehired be the first to lose their jobs?

Why would the board approve rehiring these individuals at the same salaries upon retirement?

Shouldn't rehired employees start over at the starting pay for teachers?

Why would the district rehire teachers in areas other than math, science, or special education?

Incompetence gone wild!

Retired; Rehired= pay

What difference does it make whether the person retired and came back? They should be paid for their years of experience, one cannot go back into time and say, "Hey you retired and now you have the same amount of experience as a first year teacher." That would be ridiculous. People regardless of their reason/methods should be paid their worth. Some of these thoughts are ridiculous. People in an effort to save their own skin are throwing others under the bus. The teachers retired/rehired; bilingual; AC teachers are not the enemy! The enemy would be the people responsible for the budget shortfall!

Rehires

You missed the point. Those retiring a $60,000 - 75,000 plus..is it fair to rehire at that salary, double dipping and making as much as 1 1/2 teachers. The other point was the district WASTING money on demoted administration who either keep the samr pay for less responsibilities or are promoted downtown. Ramos ran Bryan Adams and our community in the ground, left loads of PROBLEMS and got promoted. What kind of message does that send to others...except Mess Up and Move Up. It's been DISD practice for years. Possibly they can't afford to do that anymore. I did hear Sat. that Ramos was one that was let go. There's an extra $100,000.00 dollars. I could think of a few others and can't wait to hear how some campus fairly cut staff, for those they have been PROTECTING without the proper certification. Eyes are watching to see if those will go first. If you are a classroom teacher with no certification, you need to go. There are several.

Rehiring

TRS will not pay a rehire for a full year if they are receiving TRS benefits.

DEMOTED....Yet paid the same

As a parent, one of my biggest thorns is, Administrators mess up, get demoted, yet keep the same pay. That's where alot of the district's money goes. Change that policy. Who in the corporate world would be demoted and keep their same pay with less responsibilities ? No wonder their incompetance goes with them to the next campus.

And Rehires..Some are worthless and need to stay home.

Demoted and Keeping Pay

That will be apparent in the next database update.

How about the principals with hispanic surnames?

On your salary database there are several principals at the elementary level earning more than some secondary principals!
How about the assistant h.s. principal who made the top 100 paid...he makes more money than head principals of all elementary schools...ironically these individuals have Hispanic surnames.

Let's keep it real Michael is taking care of his friends.

I got a better idea for your research...check into the number of administrators who have degrees in education...I'll bet the average administrator taught school three years before "leading" teachers.

Your research will also unsurface the numerous administrators with less than the mandatory three years of classroom experience. The majority of these individuals will have Hispanic surnames too.

See the SBEC database, which list the certifications of every TX educator.

No Evidence

I want to preface this by saying that I've done quite a bit of research using salary/employment databases I've requested over the years. Much of it, I did to try to substantiate/rebut rumors that [insert ethnic group] was being given preferential treatment.

There is no empirical evidence to suggest that there is any merit to the claim that Michael is giving preferential treatment to Latinos.

I have data going back several years, and I'll be glad to let you run anything that I haven't. But I've run everything from simple spreadsheets to SAS models. The evidence is just not there to support your claim.

The evidence is never there!

One of the first rules is to tamper the evidence, and hide all telling signs.
One thing I have seen for myself is the lack of records and other information to complete the picture. That is why we are not sure if the total "deficit" is $150 million or what?
That is the sign of the smart man. The dumb things like getting the truth beyond the smoke and mirrors is a mistake!

An Equal Opportunity Employer

Ok--let's give Hiney a hand, applause all around. He is an equal opportunity employer. All are welcome to jump on the gravy train: husband and wife teams, family members, pcard thieves, and total incompetents who were promoted based on incompetence.

Yahoo, Hiney doesn't see color. He doesn't seem to see much at all. In fact, he is just like the scales of justice in that he appears to be blindfolded most of the time. He is blind to nepotism, graft, corruption, stupidity, pcard major theft, and logic. He couldn't SEE the budget, so he shouldn't be held responsible for not noticing that massive hiring would have resulted in major waves of spending. Every crisis that came up, because of Hiney's inability to see, had the answer of a high-priced attorney or consultant.

That must be the reason Hiney can't seem to figure out the school biz without an army of good-old boy consultants, the Institute of Learning, and now, John Ware and John Scovell have decided to step in and help him figure out how in the heck he overspent the budget by $120M. Must be that he is so blind.

All the former CEOs who want to play in the middle of school business are now going to be on loan to Hiney. They don't want all his academic reforms to wash down the drain, just because he is BLIND to major components of his job.

What would we do without the business community in Dallas telling the rest of us that we just have to make do with the unseeing wonder we have as superintendent? They chose him for all of us, and the rest of us apparently have no say in the matter.

Bout like Bill McKenzie over at the DMN letting all school teachers know what a whiz Hiney has been in reforming education. Many of them would certainly argue otherwise, but what do they know?

It is apparent we are back to the norm in Dallas. The DMN won't let go of an unseeing, unlearned scam artist, and John Scovel has once again appeared on the scene to let us know the Citizen's Council is backing Hiney. John Ware? Well, we are all well aware that he and Hiney might be brothers in terms of their perceptions of their "public service" jobs, so we again have evidence of Hiney's blind loyalty to those who seem to share his values.

Rehires

Look at another area Allen, retired then rehired as a consultant making more than they did before they retired. I've heard of it happening on more than one occasion even before MH came on board.

Those not given contracts this year !!

What did they already know? How come many were not given contracts? I saw Hinojosa's face at the Board Meeting. How sad he looked...Was it, more listening and trusting those under you (Viramontes, Castro, Mitchell, OLSEN, COLLIER, ELROD and now Korby )and BETRAYED you or that you have known for a while and it had to come out. Wouldn't we all like to know. I think enough of the blogs have suggested, he's known by actions or lack there of. Time for you and all of those, Mentioned Above, to take their hands out of the cookie jar.

Downtown ought to know by now, there are legit people here for the right reasons who will lose thier jobs. Eyes have been watching for a long time. Will they talk openly?

Anyone for a Movie of the week? What would the title be? The earnings would go back into the CLASSROOMS, to the kids and teachers, not lunches with manipulative motives.
