LULAC: Hill and Lee Must Resign
Dallas LULAC Council 4496 calls upon City of Dallas Mayor Pro Tem Don Hill & Dallas City Plan Commissioner D’Angelo Lee to resign immediately.
The citizens of District 5 deserve representation based on a sound foundation cornered on integrity, ethics, and moral values. Sadly, the citizens of Dallas and Pleasant Grove deserve better than what they have at this time.
Why would Mayor Pro Tem Don Hill even entertain reappointment of Commissioner Lee when according to media reports, Mr. Lee accepted consulting fees and benefits for real estate projects He voted for on the plan commission? Why would Mayor Pro Tem Don Hill allow Commissioner Lee to have the access code to the City of Dallas mayoral suite?
As a resident, business owner, and taxpayer of District 5 I’m appalled Mayor Pro Tem Don Hill would entertain maintaining status quo on Mr. Lee’s appointed position and now is playing the race card in regard to this issue.
Mayor Pro Tem Don Hill talks much about the southern sector. The southern sector within District 5 includes a growing Hispanic population which is very disheartened by the recent actions of both Mayor Pro Tem Don Hill and City Plan Commissioner Lee.
I have received numerous calls on this issue. Playing the race card may have worked in the 1960’s but it will not work in 2005.
Jesse Diaz, President
Dallas LULAC Council 4496

Not Divide We're All One!
Dear Mr. Davis,
I'm an African American Grandmother and support Mr. Diaz and the Dallas LULAC Council 4496 - calling for Don Hill and D'Angelo Lee to resign.
First you must understand who you are! The fabric of most African American Families has changed over the years. Our Native American heritage, hidden for generation, and European American genealogy are now enriched with Latino, Mexican, African-American, and Native American Blackfoot, Cherokee and Apache cultures.
Most African Americans in Dallas need to open their eyes and eccept who they really are or seek the knowledge of who they are. The problems we are face with we CAN NOT go forward without that knowledge of self. Our fabric of humanity together should be a big plus for African Americans in the weaving of our differences. It is the beauty of our colors that enriches our lives.
It’s no longer Black vs. White “or” Hispanic vs. Blacks.
I would like to believe that you were taught the difference between RIGHT and WRONG.
Many of our elected officials are born with the different fabrics. Who really care about that - they need to do the RIGHT thing!
African-American Community is faced with having to fight social injustice and oppression caused by some of its own elected officials and so-called "leaders."
The system is good, but we have some individuals that are elected and others who are in high positions of authority, but who are corrupt.
They are not interested in the good of others (mentoring young African American leaders); they are only interested in power – seeking power entirely for their own sake.
Wow! As the Great Marvin Gay once said, "Please Tell Me What's Going On!"
I hope to see you at City Hall as an elected official one day soon.
Unite not Divide
Mr. Diaz,
Our two communities should be working together to build a coalition and move toward a more positive future. Statements like these keep Blacks and Hispanics divided when we all want positive change. Some Blacks like myself are learning Spanish to better converse with our Hispanic neighbors and understand the issues which affect your community.
Unite, Yes, For Right Reasons
I agree, but why don't we drop skin color from the mix and all unite together--all across Dallas. And lets unite for the all the right reasons.
Jesse has built an organization that's hot on tossing dishonest leaders from its ranks, and seeks excellence. He's working hard to build a "Dallas" that will benefit all of us.
You see, you have as much of a right to enjoy life in this town as I do. You have as much of a right to a crime-free neighborhood as I do. Your kids have as much of a right to a world-class education as mine do.
We all have a right to expunge our city of leaders and others who pad their pockets with Michael Davis', Jesse Diaz' and Allen Gwinn's tax dollars. We have a duty to expunge those who benefit at our expense.
So let's unite to rid the city of dishonest politicians. Let's unite to find honest people who are willing to sacrifice themselves for all of us. Let's unite to make Dallas the city that businesses fight over to make better.
Mike, you're a good man. You know it. I know it. If you can survive the "wrath of the clique," you'll bring much reform to not only South Dallas but all of Dallas.
I'm looking forward to watching it happen.
